Rolled up sleeves, a pair of gloves, a budak, 40 seedlings, sunshine and some good will were the tools we needed to make the city of Niš – a greener city on Earth Day (April 22nd).
With the help of Eco Taxi and the support of Srbija Šuma, we planted 40 young black pine seedlings at the famous “Dabilo” picnic spot. Each seedling was our small symbol of commitment to a greener city and proof that even small actions can make big changes.
Why did we choose black pine? It is not only because of its beautiful appearance, but also because this type of tree is extremely resilient, it tolerates drought well, which is perfect for the climate of our region. In addition, it helps to preserve the soil and prevent erosion. Black Pine is true natural wonder and it is a reminder how important it is to take care of our environment.
Whether we plant trees, ride a bike, recycle, get informed, report problems or fill out a survey with the help of the City&Me application or make small ecological choices in our everyday life, like choosing an ecological ride with the Eco Taxi – it is important to remember that every contribution counts.
We are especially proud that Eco Taxi received recognition at the Forum of Advanced Technologies within the City&Me Awards and became the first private company to be declared green!
This is the first, and surely not the last, environmental action in Niš of this type that shows that when the community of green heroes, companies and individuals come together, nature gains allies, and our city becomes a greener place for everyone.
